In 1869,during the peak of development, Liberty had three merchandise stores, two blacksmith shops, a shoemaker, a dentist, a wagon maker, a livery stable and C.C. Fugitts Hotel. The end of the town came as a result of the Central Pacific Railroad establishing Galt as a stop.
