The tube is not for real food. It is something like they gave Adam when he was a baby at the hospital. There was scar tissue that closed off the intestine and it would not let food pass through. It was completely closed off. It had to be removed. and yes...he may feel better after this all heals. The tube is in the side of his neck. That will be removed when his intestine heals and he can eat through the stomach again.

Hoping that it will not be long. They will start him on liquids. Jello, buillion, soft stuff, etc. It may take several days. He is still on a nose suction to the stomach. They don't want anything to get into the stomach and mess up the surgery.

Uncle David is still in ICU, but holding his own. Throat is sooooo sore because of the stomach tube through the nose. Surgery was good. He can't take food by mouth for a few days. Because of the small intestine having to heal to let food or liquids pass through. They took out 4 inches of the small intestine and s...titched up the open ends. He is alert and "starving to death". He hasn't eaten in 11 days now. They are controlling the blood sugars with glucose and saline. He can survive like that for about 2 weeks, but they said they will try something in a few days. He does have a feed tube for nutrition in his vein. He is tough and will make it. He is....afterall a Horn. Thanks everyone for the Prayers. God Bless you all. Aunt Joyce (Horn)

Just to let everyone know....David is doing great!! Surgery was a success and after 6 days, he is eating soft foods. EVERYTHING is working. He even got the heartburn back. His stomach on the outside looks like Freddy took a saw to it, but it is even healing. He will have ugly scars for awhile.

David is doing really well. They put too much saline in his system and he has been getting that off and is almost slender again. Surgery was successful and everything is moving along as it should.

David is doing very well. We have an appointment with podiatry Wednesday and on Friday, we see how many stitches the doctor will take out. His incision looks good. I wet-dry pack it everyday. Still looks like Freddy took a saw to it. I am so used to a smooth belly-well, not anymore.

David's stitches came out Friday. Belly looks pretty good. They even took out the stress relief wires. Instead of 6 packs, he has a 3 pack. LOLOL Exercises are coming along and we will see how he does with that. Going to get shoes made that will be what he needs for his feet. Heel is coming along very well.
