| 5 | (From Elsie Pearson, telephone call 9 Aug 2008 to Herb Mitchell): George Washington Allbright's mother was not Nancy Pamela Dean (aka Ann Permenter Dean), but his first wife, Aseneth Stalcup. According to Elsie, Asenath's parents required a marriage bond, as they were Catholic, and priests were itenerant in Tennessee at that time. After George was born, and a priest made his rounds, William declined to marry Asenath, but found one of his cousins, also named William, who agreed to marry her. | F242 | Family: F242

| 19 | Date of marriage is as provided by "Zane" in a message board posting at http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/th/read/EAST-TEXAS-ROOTS/1999-08/0935155633. | 27 | From: Bob Knowles Herb, Attached is the marriage record of Joseph T. Knowles and Sarah Hobgood. You will see that the license was issued on 8 Dec 1847. They were married on 12 Dec 1847 -- not 1848. Unfortunately those who have indexed the Fayette County marriagees have compounded the error by using the 1848 date. I've looked at the actual book and here's what happened. On June 1, 1848, the clerk set down and recorded the returns on marriages beginning in November 1847 and going up through May 184848. He started off using the correct 1847 dates for the first couple of returns but then beginning with the one recorded right before Joseph T's and going up through about three more returns, he slipped and used the 1848 date (which of course was the year he was most used to writing.) After those few returns he went back to using the correct date till he got caught up to the end of May. In case you have trouble reading the original, the transcription is below. They continued to celebrate 29 July 1941 as their wedding anniversary. MARRIAGE: 1952 Divorced Herbert Mitchell - Rena Mae Mitchell letter dated 4-9-1991 1952 Married Donald* Henderson - Rena Mae Mitchell letter dated 4-9-1991 1952/1953 Divorced Henderson & remarried Mitchell *Marriage certificate gives first name as Gerald, not Donald, and places date of marriage as 28 May 1953. Divorced 1951, remarried 1952 per Mother, however, her Mexican divorce papers showed date of divorce from HENDERSON to be January 1954. | 32 | Houston County, Texas Marriages: ALLBRIGHT, W A ROGERS, LOU Mrs 29 DEC 1909 9©342 However, Letty Harrington's transcription of Hagan Cemetery lists date of marriage for Lou and William: 12 Dec 1909. It is possible that the 12 Dec date is the date the license was issued, and 29 Dec is the date of marriage. | F183 | Family: F183

| 44 | Most of the information on the descdenants of Lige and Fannie Mitchell is taken from a typed listing of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I believe this listing was compiled by Jospehine Burlseon Hendley, and done prior to 1980, as the last birth date shown in 1977. Where available, spouses' names have been included, but they are missing for most of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. ~~HR Mitchell 1 Dec 2005. | F83 | Family: F83
